Tottenham have been hit by a major blow after two of their players tested positive for coronavirus ahead of their Sunday’s Premier League clash with Newcastle.

According to government regulations, the two unnamed players will have to go in self-isolation for 10 days, ruling them out of the game at St James' Park, a Europa Conference League encounter against

Vitesse Arnhem

, and the London derby against

West Ham

next weekend.

Spurs boss

Nuno Espirito Santo

has admitted that he is facing "big issues" after the international break which means he cannot pick the same

Tottenham

starting line-up against

Newcastle United

as he did against

Aston Villa

.

"After the international break there are always huge issues that happen,"

Nuno said.

"We have problems but I will not say before the game."

South American players went to Croatia for 10 days in order to avoid hard quarantine in England.

Spurs' South American quartet of

Cristian Romero

,

Giovani Lo Celso

,

Davinson Sanchez

, and

Emerson Royal

had not arrived back from international duty.

However, the Spurs boss said he has not ruled out using them, while the absence of two first-team players could increase the chances of them playing.

"They are traveling now,"

Nuno said.

"They will join us tomorrow (Saturday) and then we'll see.

"The reports that we have is that they finished their games well. Some of them played 90 minutes, Davinson Sanchez no, but what we are expecting is for them to join us and then we'll see."
