The PSG forward was not able to break the deadlock as Brazil drop points for the first time in their World Cup qualifying campaign.
Brazil were held to a goalless draw in their World Cup qualifier against Colombia on Sunday. The Selecao’s nine-match winning streak in the tournament came to an end as Tite’s side struggled to get past Colombia’s solid defense.
Neymar was criticized for his lack of creativity up front, but Tite believes the expectations from the PSG star are not realistic.
"Neymar was good and so were the whole team,"
Tite said in a post-match press conference.
"Maybe he's expected to do exceptional things all the time and make a difference all the time.
"He's an exceptional player because he produces exceptional moments, but not all the time. He's a different player, we know that.
"But today he was very well-marked, sometimes with two players on him."
Having made his debut in 2010, Neymar has featured in 114 games for Brazil. The former Barca star has scored 69 goals for the Selecao, only eight goals less than their all-time top scorerPele
Despite their draw, Brazil stay on top of South America’s World Cup qualifiers. The Selecao have collected 28 points from their 10 matches, being followed by their arch-rivals Argentina who have 22 points.
