Inzaghi claims that Inter could have defeated Shakhtar

Inter boss thinks that they should have used their opportunities better.

After

Inter’s

0-0 draw against Roberto De Zerbi’s

Shakhtar Donetsk

, the Nerazzurri boss,

Simone Inzaghi

, has talked about his side’s performance, insisting they would have won the game if they had used their chances better, although he admits the opposition showed a really good form.

“We faced a team in good shape that had a lot of the ball, while we must accept the blame for not making the most from our chances,”

Inzaghi told Sky Sport Italia.

“We could’ve finished better, we had five really good scoring opportunities despite it not being our sharpest performance. We could’ve won it.

“Lautaro Martinez and Edin Dzeko really sacrificed themselves for the team. Correa and Alexis Sanchez were coming off injuries, we’ve got a lot of fixtures and we knew this would be a dangerous game.”

It is the first point of the group for both Inter and Shakhtar Donetsk, neither of them able to score a goal yet.

“Shakhtar are an unpredictable team, so considering how much we created, we should’ve scored. We hit the crossbar and their goalkeeper made some great saves. We’ll see what happens at San Siro.”

Despite Inzaghi’s opinion of the match, Shakhtar Donets seemed like the dominating side throughout the game, and they had the position of the ball more often than the Serie A champions, showing how dangerous they can be for any big European side in the Champions League.
