The English star will not be able to accompany the Blues due to injury in the upcoming crucial match.
boss Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that Mason Mount will miss the match against Manchester City due to injury.
The English star came on in the second half of his side's recent game against Aston Villa, scoring one of his team's goals from the penalty spot to give them a 3-0 victory. However, he suffered an injury in a clash with one of the Villa players, and now the German coach has confirmed that he will not be able to accompany his team to the match against City.
Tuchel told reporters:
"It's too soon for Mason Mount. He had a little, minor injury from the Aston Villa game. He made huge progress [since the Villa match] but it is not enough to be ready at 12:30 [on Saturday].
"He's very disappointed. I didn't see it during the match, obviously it happened in the second half but he played through the injury. He finished the game and was even confident enough to take an important penalty in the shoot-out, so it was a bit of a surprise.
"As for the recovery steps he is doing right now, they are huge. It's possible he could have played if the game was one day later. It's a very minor injury but it's a disappointment for him and for us because he is a player that we count on, but no matter what importance Mason has, the task is to find solutions without him."
