Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt has said the three points against Spezia was the only thing that mattered for his side on Wednesday night.

Matthijs de Ligt

’s match decider helped

Juventus

come from behind to beat

Spezia

3-2 on Wednesday.

The Dutch defender’s second-half strike brought Juventus their first victory of the Serie A season after four games and moved

Massimiliano Allegri

's side out of the bottom three.

Moise Kean

broke the deadlock after 28 minutes with his first goal since returning to Italy, but

Emmanuel Gyasi

and

Janis Antiste

both were on target to turn the game around.

However,

Federico Chiesa

scored the equalizer in the 66th minute before

De Ligt

pounced to secure the win for his side six minutes later.

“The game was difficult,”

De Ligt

told

DAZN

. “We played a good first half, but they scored a great goal on the last chance and that’s always tough.

“Then they scored at the beginning of the second half, but our character was important to win. The only thing that mattered was the three points.”

The Dutch center-back hopes the win can act as a turning point for the Old Lady.

“At Juventus we have to win all the games, now we must start a new championship with these three points,”

he continued

.

“Game after game, we will see how it will be. I’m happy with the points won today. We always play together, those on the pitch and those on the bench and it’s very important.

“Even those who entered in the second half did very well.”

The young defender responded to the critics by scoring the winner.

“I always need to improve,”

he added.

“It’s normal to receive criticism. I have had a lot, for me it’s not that important.

“I just have to work to improve.”
