Dumfries: ‘I need to attack, to make the field as wide as possible’

After Denzel Dumfries’ great performance in Inter’s 6-1 victory over Bologna, he confirmed that Simone Inzaghi told him to ‘attack and make the field as wide as possible’.

Inter

were able to bounce back after their 2-2 draw with Sampdoria and 1-0 home defeat to Real Madrid as they won 6-1 over Bologna at San Siro.

It was their 18th consecutive Serie A home victory which only four clubs have been able to achieve.

The Man of the Match was

Denzel Dumfries

, who in his first start was able to provide two assists and was a constant thorn down the right side.

“I’m very happy, it was a good game after the defeat to Real Madrid we needed to bounce back. We did a really good job as a team, it was a good game,”

the Dutchman told DAZN.

“I need to go and attack, to make the field as wide as possible. It’s my first start, but I feel good with my teammates, they give me a warm welcome, help me a lot and I am happy to be here.”

Dumfries was brought in to replace Achraf Hakimi and a lot of Inter fans will be sure after tonight’s game that the shoes have been filled.

“He did a very good job last year! I am very proud to be here, it’s a wonderful club, beautiful fans and I’m so happy.”

In his first post-match interview, he was asked whether he could speak any Italian yet and it went viral when he answered ‘Un poquito’, which is Spanish.

“I learned a lot of Italian words now, it’s getting better. That is a mistake I don’t make anymore!”
