The France international made his first appearance of the season on Thursday.
Having asked Tottenham for transfer permission,Tanguy Ndombele
was heavily linked with a move away from the north London side earlier his summer. The Spurs decided to keep the French midfielder, but he has managed to feature in only one game in the new campaign.
"It was the first game Tanguy was involved in since the beginning of the season,"
Nuno said after his side were held to a 2-2 draw against Rennes in the Europa Conference League.
Since his £60m move from Lyon in 2019, Ndombele has failed to live up to expectations at Tottenham. Many observers suggest that Ndombele is a solution to problems in Tottenham’s midfield, but the Portuguese manager believes it is too soon to have such expectations.
"We had all the pre-season and we are already playing Premier League and European competition and it was Tanguy's first game so let's be patient."
The Spurs will face Chelsea in their next league game on Sunday. Asked about the Blues' current form, Espirito Santo responded:
"[They are a] very good team. Thomas is doing an amazing job.
"They have an amazing squad, talented players, they play good football, they are organised, they are intense. They are European champions so we must value that as we do to all of the opponents but Sunday we will compete, that's a promise.
"No, there's no surprise at all. Thomas already did an amazing job at Borussia Dortmund [and was] fantastic at PSG. He and his coaching staff have enormous quality so I am not surprised by the success of Thomas.
"For me it is not a surprise because you can see how good they play."
After their match against Chelsea, Espirito Santo’s side will play againstWolves
in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.
