Cavani to miss battle against Young Boys but Ronaldo will play

The Uruguay star is not going to feature for Manchester United when they go against Young Boys, but the Portugal international will play.

Edinson Cavani

will not be part of

Manchester United

’s squad when they face

Young Boys

in the Champions League.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

confirmed that the striker sustained a slight strain during a friendly.

Cavani also missed United’s 4-1 victory over

Newcastle United

, which saw them sit top of the Premier League table on Saturday.

Cavani has only featured in one game this season and he will not make an appearance when the Red Devils start the European campaign in Switzerland.

Solskjaer spoke during a media conference, saying:

"Edi is hopefully back with us soon, he had a slight strain during the international break in a behind-closed-doors game. He's working hard to come back."

United are going to have

Cristiano Ronaldo

available to equal the 177 Champions League appearance of Iker Casillas following his second debut against Newcastle, which was a game to remember.

The ex-Real Madrid legend scored a brace for his side and it seems like United will be a force to be reckoned after also acquiring Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho this summer.

When quizzed about the quality of his team, Solskjaer said:

"This team has grown and matured over the last few seasons, that was always the plan.

"When I came in, we wanted a team with experience and quality who could challenge. David [de Gea] sat next to me, Harry [Maguire] has been here for a few years now, Raphael and Cristiano. We've learned."

The Portugal star’s return has boosted the team, with De Gee talking about the influence Ronaldo had in a short amount of time.

He said:

"It's great to have Cristiano back home — the experience of Cristiano is amazing, he's a legend at the club already and it's great to have him back. It's massive for us

During their last two Champions League clashes against Young Boys, United won both and although the opponents have only vanquished their English opposition once, Solskjaer will still take them seriously after Switzerland’s victory over France at Euro 2020.

I was very impressed by the reaction in the game against France, when they were 3-1 down and you could see their quality when they turned that game around,"

said Solskjaer.

"I managed Molde against Basel and the game against Italy was impressive as well. Some of those players will be against us tomorrow."
