The Brazilian legend has remained under medical care since the end of August.

Pele

was moved to Sao Paulo's Albert Einstein Hospital on August 31. The football legend, who was expected to take routine medical care for his colon tumor, revealed on Monday that he will undergo surgery to remove the tumor.

Brazil's all-time top scorer released an update about his health condition on Friday, revealing he has undergone the operation.

"My friends, with each passing day I feel a little better,"

Pele wrote on his

Instagram

account.

"I'm looking forward to playing again, but I'm still going to recover for a few more days.

"While I'm here, I take the opportunity to talk a lot with my family and to rest. Thanks again for all the loving messages. We'll be together again soon!"

Since his failed hip replacement in 2012, Pele has struggled with mobility problems. The three-time World Cup winner is expected to stay under intensive health care until he fully recovers from the surgery.
