Me and Depay have great connection - De Jong
The Dutch striker is very happy to be in his new team.
Luuk de Jong's introduction took place today at Camp Nou, and he described it as a great honor to wear the Blaugrana shirt.
It was in the last minutes of the summer transfer window that
Barcelonasold Antoine Griezmann to Atletico, replacing him with Luuk de Jong from Sevilla. De Jong was a direct request from Ronald Koeman, and the Dutch coach insisted on signing him. The two from the Dutch national team had a history of working together.
Di Young, who had two not-so-good years at Sevilla, is now optimistic that he will shine at Barca and repeat his good days at PSV Eindhoven. De Jong underwent a medical in Barcelona three days ago and everything went well.
De Jong said:
“I hope we have a great season together and that we win many titles. The team received me very well. This is a family; I have a great relationship with the coach and I love working with him. I’m very happy to be here; everyone is helping me.
“I have a great relationship with [Memphis Depay] and with Frenkie [de Jong]. I know Memphis from PSV. We played very well together and had a great connection. Hopefully we have the same connection at Barcelona. I know Frenkie very well; it’s a pleasure to play with players of such quality.”
