Galatasaray interested in signing Arsenal’s Elneny

The Turkish giants have asked the Gunners about acquiring Mohamed Elneny’s services.

Galatasaray

only have until Wednesday, which is their domestic transfer window’s end, to pen a contract with

Mohamed Elneny

.

The 29-year-old, who made a move to

Arsenal

in 2016, has one year left on his deal with the Premier League side.

The Gunners might welcome the chance of earning a transfer fee for him this summer, rather than letting him depart on a free transfer.

The Egypt international has featured in Turkey before, when he played for

Besiktas

on loan in the 2019-20 season.

After climbing down the pecking order under the reign of Unai Emery at Arsenal, he made 41 appearances last season, when Mikel Arteta had his first full season at the helm.

If he joins Galatasaray, he would be with a lot of players who have Premier League experience, like Newcastle defender DeAndre Yedlin, Crystal Palace left-back Patrick van Aanholt, one time Liverpool and Fulham forward Ryan Babel, and former West Brom striker Mbaye Diagne.

Arsenal’s sixth signing this summer was Takehiro Tomiyasu, with his £19.8m transfer fee making the Gunners’ spending £150m.

The 22-year-old arrived after Ben White, Albert Sambi Lokonga, Nuno Tavares, Aaron Ramsdale and Martin Odegaard at the Emirates Stadium, and all six players are between 21 to 23 years old.
