Zenit St Petersburg striker Sardar Azmoun has revealed the Russian club turned down offers from Roma and Tottenham in the summer’s transfer window, so he could leave the club on a free transfer in June.
The 26-year-old striker has drawn the attention of several clubs in Europe includingRoma
“I have a contract with Zenit, even if I wanted the leave, there would be nothing I could do,”
the 26-year-old said from the Iran training camp, as perCalciomercato.com
“I received offers from Tottenham, Lyon, Leverkusen and Roma, but they [Zenit] rejected them. If I leave, I’ll do it at the end of my contract in the summer,”
the striker added
The Iran international has scored 58 goals in 90 appearances since arriving atZenit
in February 2019 and has started this season in fine style with five goals in his first six games.
His contract expires in June 2022 and it remains to be seen if Roma will still be interested in securing his services at the end of the campaign.
