James was never the size of Manchester United - Ferdinand

The young Welsh star has finally left Old Trafford and will play for Bielsa this season.

Manchester United

legend Rio Ferdinand believes that Daniel James was never up to the club's standards and that his € 30 million move to Leeds was to the benefit of both sides.

The young Welsh star left Manchester United in the summer transfer window to join Leeds United. He is expected to perform better under Marcelo Bielsa, and now Ferdinand claims that James, who has played 74 games for the Red Devils, has never been at the level and size of the club.

He told

FIVE YouTube channel:

"Leeds have been on him for ages, they’ve wanted this boy for time.

"Listen, Dan James, I don’t think he’s Man Utd standard, but he’s definitely Premier League standard and the way Leeds play, he’s going to be a problem for a few teams.

"The kid in that team will be getting the ball and getting forward quick, and that suits his game.

"When you have to break down two banks of four like Man Utd that doesn’t suit James’ game, he likes space. Leeds United for Dan James will be a fantastic move for both parties."

James joined Manchester United from Swansea in the summer of 2019 for 17 million euros. He had a good start to his career at Old Trafford and scored in his first game against Chelsea, but then failed to live up to expectations and then left the club.
