Liverpool and Southampton apologized to fans for ticket problems

A problem with NFC technology prevented fans from attending the stadiums on time.


have announced that they intend to refund fans after ticket problem arise.

Before Southampton's crucial game against Manchester United began, fans were prevented from entering the stadium and long queues formed outside the St Mary's stadium at the start of the game. However, a similar problem occurred yesterday before Liverpool's match against Burnley at Anfield. Now the Southampton club has announced the reasons for this problem and claimed that they will refund the cost of the tickets to the fans.

A Saints statement read: "The club would like to apologise for the frustration caused by issues regarding match tickets and entry to the stadium today and is already working on a full investigation into these issues.

"We will be issuing a full refund for this game to every general admission ticket holder. Details of this process will be shared early next week.

"Once again the club is extremely sorry for any inconvenience caused."

Liverpool also had trouble selling tickets during the pre-season, and during the match against Burnley yesterday, a similar problem occurred for the club, which, according to them, was due to the use of NFC technology.

They promised that the problem would be solved soon so that they would no longer see long queues outside the stadium.


's statement read: "We'd like to give a huge thank you to all our supporters who attended our first home fixture today for their patience and support whilst accessing Anfield.

"A number of changes have recently been made to our stadium access processes and the co-operation of supporters today was exemplary.

"As we continue throughout the season, we will be taking key learnings from these new match day experiences to continue developing and enhancing our processes to provide the best possible match day experience for our supporters."
