Former Milan coach Fabio Capello believes Gianluigi Donnarumma moving away from Milan on a free transfer hurts more than Romelu Lukaku moving to Chelsea from Inter this summer.
Two stars left Italy this summer, one of them being
Inter’s leading goalscorer
Romelu Lukaku
and the other Italy international
Gianluigi Donnarumma
.
Lukaku left the Nerazzurri and moved to Chelsea on a €115 million deal and former
Milancoach
Fabio Capello
believes Donnarumma moving to Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer hurts more than the Belgian moving away from Inter.
The 22-year-old goalkeeper waited until his contract expired with Milan in June and then joined the Ligue 1 giants after becoming the European champion with Italy.
“Lukaku’s farewell with Inter technically weighs as much as Donnarumma leaving Milan,”
Capello told La Repubblica.
“But Gigio didn’t bring a euro to the club, so it hurts more. The gratitude for those who raised you, helping your family, is due.”
