The Argentine star was finally added to Mauricio Pochettino's squad.

Paris Saint-Germain

have announced that they have signed Argentine star Lionel Messi as a free agent.

Messi, who joined Barcelona at the age of 13, had an exceptional time at the club, scoring 672 goals and sending 305 assists to his team-mates while playing more than 800 games for the team. He helped his team win 10 La Liga titles and 4 Champions League titles, as well as winning the Ballon d'Or six times.

Barcelona tried hard to keep Messi, but La Liga financial rules prevented the Argentine superstar from continuing to play for his childhood club. However, Paris Saint-Germain took advantage of the opportunity and, after negotiating with the Argentine star, finally transferred him to Paris.

He told Club's website:

“I am impatient to start a new chapter of my career in Paris. The club and its vision are in perfect harmony with my ambitions. I know how talented the players and staff are here. I am determined to build, alongside them, something great for the club and for the fans. I can't wait to set foot on the Parc des Princes pitch."

Messi's contract with Paris Saint-Germain will be for two years and will have a one-year extension. Before him, Sergio Ramos, Georginio Wijnaldum and Gianluigi Donnarumma also signed for Paris as free agents, and Achraf Hakimi was signed from Inter for 70 million euros. It is still unclear that when Messi will have his debut for the club.
