Odegaard situation remains unsettled as he is keen to stay in London

Tue 10 August 2021 | 10:04

The Norwegian midfielder spent the second half of the last season on loan at Arsenal.

Martin Odegaard

joined Arsenal on a short loan deal in January. The Real Madrid midfielder featured in 14 league matches for the Gunners, being impressive enough to tempt the English side to make his transfer permanent in the summer transfer window.

Despite Arsenal’s interest, Odegaard seemed to be on his way to the Spanish capital ahead of the next season. However, with the midfielder being determined to get enough game time, Arsenal might still have a chance to sign him this summer.

According to SB Nation reporter

Lucas Navarette

, Arsenal will have to pay over €40million to secure Odegaard’s signing this summer. The Norwegian midfielder is not optimistic about his future at Santiago Bernabeu as he is expected to be placed behind Fede Valverde, Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, and Isco in the Blancos’ pecking order.

With Kroos and Valverde being sidelined with injuries, Odegaard might be used in Real Madrid’s league opener against

on Saturday. However, Arsenal will still have the chance to bid for the player until the end of the transfer window.
