John Stones signs new five-year contract at Manchester City

they have renewed the contract of John Stones on Monday. The English star’s last contract at the Etihad Stadium was set to be expired at the end of the next season.

"I couldn’t be happier,”

 Stones said after signing the new deal.

“I love being part of this squad. There are so many quality players here and I know we can continue winning trophies, which is my main focus.

“Working with the manager is a dream – he has taught me so much about the game and I feel like I learn something new every single day.”

Stones has signed a new five-year deal at the Etihad Stadium, securing a £250,000-per-week salary for the remainder of his stay at the Premier League club.

He added:

“The success we’ve had in the last four years has been incredible. To be a part of it has been a dream come true and I just want to continue winning.

“This is the best place for me to play my football and fulfil my ambitions.”

This is an impressive turnaround for Stones’ career. The England international seemed to have fallen out of favor at the Etihad Stadium last season, with the Citizens signing

on a £62m deal from Benfica. However, Stones managed to display top-class performances alongside Dias at the heart of Manchester City’s backline as they won the Premier League title and reached the Champions League final.

Despite the new deal, the battle to secure a place in Manchester City’s defense will continue for Stones. Nathan Ake and Aymeric Laporte are set to compete with Stones and Dias to secure their places in Pep Guardiola’s lineup.
