Canadian Women win the Olympic gold medal in soccer

Canada defeats Sweden to win the gold medal after two bronze medals.

after experiencing two back-to-back bronze medals in the previous games.

Sweden took the lead in the 34th minute of the game when Stina Blackstenius found the net just for the Canadians to find the determination to take control of the game and raise their pressure on the opponents until Jessie Fleming leveled the game in the 67th minute of the game from the penalty spot.

The game ended in a draw in the fulltime, and in the penalty shootouts, Canada reached the gold medal after goalkeeper Stephanie Labbé denied Jonna Andersson's attempt, and Julia Grosso scored the winner to end it.

"It feels amazing. Wow. Super, super proud of my team,"

defender Kadeisha Buchanan said

. "It's a feeling I'll remember for the rest of my life."

After winning the bronze medal in the 2012 London games and after that in the 2016 Rio Olympics, Canadians were determined to finish the event as the gold medalists, but they didn’t show the quality of the winning side in the first half, which led to Sweden’s first goal but after that especially in the second half, the red and whites were the dominant side of the game.
