Aston Villa confirmed Bailey signing

The Jamaican star will play in the Premier League next season.

Sky Sports reports that Aston Villa and Bayer Leverkusen have reached an agreement over the transfer of Jamaica striker Leon Bailey.

Villa has been trying to finalize the transfer for several weeks, and it seems that only medical tests and personal agreements remain. They announced the agreement in a statement posted on their website today. The statement said:

"Aston Villa and Bayer Leverkusen have reached an agreement for the transfer of Leon Bailey subject to the player completing a medical and finalising personal terms."

After Leverkusen failed to qualify for the Champions League, Bailey was offered to several Premier League clubs. Top clubs in England, including Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool, monitored his situation but the £40m price tag was their problem.

Bailey had the opportunity to play for England because his two grandparents had British passports, and Gareth Southgate oversaw him before choosing the Jamaican national team.
