advance to the semi-finals of the Olympic Games by defeating the Ivory Coast in extra time. La Roja were 2-1 behind until the last minute of the second half’s injury time.

Rafa Mir

saved the day for Spain as he fired the ball into the back of the net from the left side of the box.

The Spaniards took complete control of the game in the extra time and managed to score three more goals to win the game with a 5-2 result.

Mikel Oyarzabal

scored a penalty before Mir completed his hat trick against the Elephants’ shaky defense.

La Roja will face Japan in their upcoming semi-final tie on Tuesday. The hosts reached the semi-finals by defeating New Zealand on penalties on Saturday.
