, who had an impressive season with PSV and Netherlands in the Euro 2020, with a five-year contract. The reports suggest that the Netherlands international has joined the Bundesliga side with a €40million deal.
The 22-year-old played for Ajax and Arsenal academies before joining PSV for his senior breakthrough in 2018, and in Euro 2020, he played in all Netherlands’ four games.
Malen has made 116 appearances for PSV in all competitions, scoring 55 goals and providing 24 assists, and last season was his best season with 19 goals in 32 Eredivisie games, helping his side to finish only behind Ajax.
Despite Malen’s impressive form at the club and international level, Dortmund’s head of first-team football, Sebastian Kehl, refused to consider him as Jadon Sancho’s replacement for the team, insisting that Donyell is a different player with different qualities.
"To compare anyone with Jadon is really unfair,"
he told Sky Sport Germany.
"Jadon needed a certain amount of time to develop to that point himself.
"Donyell is a different player. He likes to cut inside from the wing, whereas Jadon liked to stay out wide.
"We have tried bringing in a player with a different profile, and we are very happy with that."
Despite all the conversations about Sancho’s departure and Erling Haaland’s future, Donyell’s arrival will make the supporters hopeful about their squad for the next season.
