Bayern’s Goretzka to follow Alaba’s path to join Real Madrid
The Bayern Munich midfielder entered the final year of his deal with the Bavarians and has been linked with a move to Manchester United, FC Barcelona, and Real Madrid during the recent weeks.
According to reports by
Marca,
Real Madrid
are looking to repeat the trick they did signing
David Alaba
on a free transfer from Bayern with
Leon Goretzka
.
The Germany international, whose contract is due to expire in June 2022, has been advised to stall
the ongoing negotiations with Bayernover a contract renewal by the Los Blancos.
With Luka Modric 35 and Toni Kroos 31, Madrid needs to renew its midfield. As same as Toni Kroos when he joined Real Madrid in 2017 on a $27.50m deal from Bavaria, Goretzka is a proven player who knows what it takes to represent a massive club. He’s also a key figure in the German national team, and at just 26 has plenty of room to grow and develop.
However,
Real Madrid
has to compete with Manchester United in order to seal a transfer for the midfielder
,
as per reports from Sport Bild.
He met the back of the net eight times and contributed nine assists in 32 games he played for Bayern in the 2020-21 season.
Bayern are reportedly not willing to cash in on the midfielder and plan to offer him an extension, with their new manager, Julian Nagelsmann, naming the midfielder as "one of the most dangerous midfielders in Europe".
