Everton player arrested on suspicion of child sex offenses

star, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested by Greater Manchester Police on Friday. The player has been bailed while the police continue the investigation.

A statement from Greater Manchester Police reads:

“Officers arrested a man on Friday 16 July 2021 on suspicion of child sex offences. He is on police bail pending further enquiries.”

, Police raided the player’s house in search of evidence for “very serious offences” earlier this month. Everton’s dressing room is reportedly stunned by the news as they are set to start their new Premier League campaign in four weeks.

An Everton spokesman said:

“We can confirm we have suspended a first-team player pending a police investigation.

“The club will continue to support the authorities with their inquiries and will not be making any further statement at this time.”
