The Rossoneri secured a permanent deal for the versatile defender after his impressive loan spell from Chelsea.

Having spent the last six months on loan at AC Milan,

Fikayo Tomori

has earned a permanent deal at San Siro ahead of the next season. The 23-year-old center-back, who was loaned out by

in January, secured a regular spot in Milan’s lineup and managed to make 17 Serie A appearances under Stefano Pioli. The former Derby County star hopes he can keep up with his impressive form at the Italian side.

He told

Il Corriere della Sera

“Everyone welcomed me here very well from the first day. Great club, exceptional facilities. There is everything to grow and to win. A dream.”

Asked whether Milan will aim for the Scudetto next season, Tomori responded:

“Nothing is impossible, you always play to win. We are a young team, we are growing but the second place last season says that we are on the right path. We have to continue like this, step by step.”

He added:

“it’s a great satisfaction to feel this trust around me. Everyone is helping me. I understood immediately: Milan is the right place for me.”

Asked about his relationship with Milan defenders Simon Kjaer and Alessio Romagnoli, the former Chelsea player responded:

“Two great Champions. They are helping me a lot in my personal growth. On the field but also off it.

Romagnoli is the Captain, he speaks English to me on the pitch and this helps me. I have a very good ‘feeling’ with him and with Kjær.”

Tomori believes Pioli’s experience as a former defender is beneficial for his development as a player.

“He teaches me the secrets and the details. How he wants me to play in his system, with the rest of the team. He was a defender, he teaches me a lot about how to defend, about the position to have on the pitch… I have a great relationship with him.”

the 23-year-old said.

Milan will face

Pro Sesto

in a pre-season friendly on Saturday. The Rossoneri must face Sampdoria in their opening match of the 2021-22 campaign on August 22.
