Man charged with racially abusing Rio Ferdinand

A man has been charged with racially abusing football pundit Rio Ferdinand when he was at Molineux in May by West Midlands Police.

The ex-

Manchester United

defender has revealed that he was racially abused when he was doing his job as BT Sport broadcast team for the Premier League final clash between Wolves and the Red Devils.

Jamie Arnold

has used racist words and gestures towards

Rio Ferdinand

and has been charged with homophobic comments. The 31-year-old will stand before the judge on July 29.


Stuart Ward

, who is the UK’s first dedicated hate crime officer in football, has led the investigation.

Ward works within a football unit that condemns any abuse against players and fans.
