Official: Olympiacos’ £6.25m Jose Sa replaces Rui Patricio at Wolves

Wolves sign goalkeeper Jose Sa from Olympiacos on a five-year deal for a fee of around £6.25m.

The former

Porto

goalkeeper will replace

Rui Patricio

who joined Jose Mourinho’s Roma on a deal worth £10.25m

 on Tuesday.

According to

Sky Sports

,

Wolves

will pay a fee in the region of £6.85m for the 28-year-old goalkeeper,

Jose Sa

, while they will approximately earn around £10.25m from Roma for Patricio’s transfer to Jose Mourinho's side.

Joining

Olympiacos

from Porto in 2018 on a season-long loan deal before sealing a permanent transfer, Jose Sa established himself as the club's No 1 and helped them clinch two successive Greek Super League titles in his last two seasons at the club, keeping 62 clean sheets in 124 appearances.

The Premier League club confirmed the signature on Tuesday

, stating: “The 28-year-old keeper then spent two years at Porto, where he shared a dressing room with new Wolves teammates Ruben Neves and Willy Boly. Originally coming in as back-up for Spanish international Iker Casillas, Sa would go on to feature regularly as the club secured the 2017/18 Primeira Liga, while making five outings in the Champions League that same season.”

Sa has represented Portugal at the youth level and was called up to the senior side by Fernando Santos various times, including for the 2019 Nations League finals, despite never earning a cap.

Wolves will travel to Midlands rivals, Leicester, in their opening game of the 2021/22 Premier League season.
