Liverpool and Atletico £9m away from a deal for Barca target, Saul
As Atletico are about €1billion in debt, they are reportedly open to selling their star midfielder, Saul, as Barcelona, Chelsea and Liverpool are pursuing the midfielder’s signature.
It was reported yesterday that
Atleti and the Blaugrana are negotiating a possible trade, which involves Saul and Antoine Griezmann.
However, according to Mundo Deportivo, Liverpool has made a formal £34million bid for Saul Niguez. The offer has been rejected by Diego Simeone’s side as La Liga champions want ‘at least’ £43million before being open to doing any business.
According to The Daily Mail, the Los Colchoneros’ £30million signing of Rodrigo de Paul from Udinese could pave the way for Saul to either join Liverpool or Barcelona.
The Telegraph’s
Mike McGratreported yesterday that
Barcelona
and
Atletico
have already started negotiations over a deal for
Saul that will see Antoine Griezmann go the other way.
Griezmann
is keen on returning to Atletico and being the reference of the attack as he was Lionel Messi’s second-fiddle for two seasons. Barca are considering cashing in on the France international as they aim to reduce their wage cap to be able to offer the six-time Ballon d’Or winner a new contract.
However, the Frenchman did not push for a move. He knows the situation the Blaugrana are dealing with and would rather go back to the Spanish capital rather than to Italy or England.
