While criticizing CONMEBOL chairman Alejandro Dominguez, Brazil's manager complimented Neymar for his professionalism.

After Brazil's 1-0

Copa America

final loss to Argentina on Saturday, head manager Tite lauded the 29-year-old

for his sportsmanship toward

Lionel Messi

Argentina won their first Copa since 1993 in the 22nd minute at the Maracana; after Neymar's PSG teammate

Angel Di Maria

netted the winning goal Brazil surrendered the title they won in 2019.

The Brazil coach expressed his displeasure with the loss, but praised Neymar's elegance after praising Messi's performance in winning his first trophy with Argentina.

From their four years together at Barça, the famous duo has remained close friends.

"There is greatness in defeat and in recognizing the rival," Tite said.

"Perhaps, the image that was seen between Messi and Neymar after the game is a message that we have to give."

Tite was less kind of the Copa America's organizers, singling out CONMEBOL director

Alejandro Dominguez

for criticism during the rushed tournament.

The Copa America 2021 was supposed to be held in Colombia and Argentina, but it was rushed rescheduled due to political and COVID-19 difficulties, with Brazil was named hosts in May.

The defeat was the first time the Selecao had lost in a Copa America event held in Brazil, having won all five championships held on home territory beforehand.

"The organization of the Copa America left a lot to be desired," Tite said after the final defeat. "The quality of the pitches [left a lot to be desired].

"We almost lost Everton in training. We went to train, the grass locked up, and he had a dislocated finger. In a short time, it is impossible to organize a competition of this magnitude.

"I'm specifically talking about the person in charge, Alejandro (Dominguez), president of CONMEBOL, of having the organization of the competition over a short period of time."

During the competition, Tite had been vocal about the poor condition of the grounds, particularly at the

Estadio Nilton Santos

in Rio de Janeiro, where Brazilians played four matches

Pre-tournament, Brazil's attendance in the Copa was in question because of the players' disagreement to the host relocation due to the COVID-19 epidemic.
