The Spanish defender added a year to his contract with the Whites.

Real Madrid

have announced that they have extended the contract of defender Nacho until 2023.

While Paris Saint-Germain officially announced the signing of former Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos today, hours after the announcement, Real Madrid announced that they had reached an agreement with Nacho to be in the team's defense for another two years.

Ramos had asked the club to extend his contract for two years, although he announced that he had accepted the club's offer of a one-year extension in June after his departure. Nacho, who had a contract with the club until 2022, has now added one year to his contract.

But the interesting thing about extending Nacho's contract was the announcement's timing, which came just hours after Ramos' transfer to Paris Saint-Germain was confirmed.

Nacho, who was in the starting line-up in 30 Real Madrid games last season, hopes to have more opportunities in the new season with the departure of Ramos.

Madrid conceded 21 goals with Nacho on the pitch, and no player on the team has tackled more than Nacho (45) and interceptions (52). However, he was successful in only 50.8% of one-on-one duels and 50% of aerial battles.
