Barcelona announce Sergio Akieme’s exit

The Blaugrana have announced that Sergio Akieme has departed the club and penned a permanent contract with Almeria for €3.5million.

appeared in 37 games for the Andalusian club on a loan deal in the 2020-21 season but they failed to get promoted to La Liga.

The full-back’s deal included a buy option and since he was played in more than 22 matches the obligation clause was triggered.

The former Spain youth international had featured for

Barcelona B

regularly in the 2019-20 campaign, playing in 27 games, after joining from Rayo Vallecano, for whom he made two appearances in La Liga.

The 23-year-old was born in Madrid and was playing for Getafe and Rayo in his youth career. He was regarded as a promising player.

Barcelona

are selling some of their players in order to raise funds for their struggling financial situation.
