Eriksen and medical staff who saved him invited to Euro 2020 final

Denmark midfielder Christian Eriksen, his wife, and the six medical staff who saved his life have been invited by UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin to the final game of Euro 2020 at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.

and was rushed to hospital after resuscitated on the field.

It is not clear whether Eriksen will travel to Wembley Stadium from his home country.

But paramedic Peder Ersgaard confirmed that he and his colleagues have accepted the invitation.

"You look forward [to it] as a child does to Christmas Eve,"

he told

"It's a great feeling that you can be surprised that way, and it is a surprise; I never saw this coming. It completely swept my legs away from underneath me."

Eriksen and his partner Sabrina Kvist Jensen "have been invited by the president in person",

a UEFA spokesperson told AFP

"We don't know if they will come or will prefer to rest,"

the spokesperson added

Denmark

have reached the semifinals and will face

England

on Wednesday for a place in the final, with the winner taking on

Italy

, who defeated Spain in the penalty shoot-out.

In the pre-match press conference, Eriksen’s former team-mate Harry Kane revealed England will make a special presentation in honor of the player.

Kane said:

"I am good friends with Chris and it will be sad not to see him here. He is a big part of their success over the years. It was a terrible thing to happen to him. The main thing is that he is recovering well. He will be rooting for Denmark more than he is for me.

"There will be a presentation from all of us here at England to show our support. It is a shame he will not be there with his team. After it happened I text him and missed him well. I look forward to seeing him and texting him and catching up with him. I hope to see him when England are in the final.

"I am friends with Christian and his family. His wife is friends with my wife so we’ve been texting. He has a place in the hearts of everyone in the football world. It is important he rests in a challenging time that he went through."
