Wolves’ Jimenez returns to full pre-season training
The Wolves striker has finished his first training session after sustaining a fractured skull last November.
Raul Jimenez
has joined
Wolvesfor the pre-season training on Monday and will wear a headguard. The striker was allowed to return to training fully in May; however, he must have waited until this Monday to rejoin his team-mates and meet new coach Bruno Lage.
The 30-year-old will be in contention for the club’s pre-season campaign, which starts on July 17 against Crewe Alexandra.
The Mexico international had a clash of heads with Arsenal’s David Luiz last year and had to be treated on the pitch for about 10 minutes before being carried off.
He went under the knife for a major traumatic brain injury (TBI) and skull fracture after the match. He had undergone tests in May, which showed that his head is healed. However, he has to wear a protective headguard for the rest of his career.
Wolves acquired the Mexican’s services in 2019 with a £30m transfer fee after having him on loan first and then penning a four-year contract in October 2020.
He met the back of the net 48 times during 110 games for his side, scoring four goals in nine Premier League games last season before leaving due to his injury.
