The Belgium boss is concentrating on his future with the national team notwithstanding being eliminated from Euro 2020 last week.

Roberto Martinez

talked about his “sadness and disappointment” following their loss at the hands of Italy in the quarter-finals of Euro 2020 but the result doesn’t change the

coach’s tenure.

The Spaniard is anticipating competing in the Nations League finals this fall and aiming to guide Belgium to the 2022 World Cup.

Martinez’s contract will keep him until the end of those finals as he penned an extension in May 2020 and he plans to see out his contract.

National federation chief executive Peter Bossaert talked to the Belgian radio and television network Sporza and said:

“Tomorrow we are already starting preparations for the September and October matches.

“Roberto Martinez will be there. No official communication will follow, but there is no reason to change the staff.”

The 47-year-old believed talking about his future after their loss to Italy would have been “too raw”, but now he is ready to concentrate on a new challenge at Belgium.
