According to The Athletic outlet, Danny Ings' current contract has one year left on it.

Manchester City was reportedly keen on signing Ings this summer as a potential replacement to

Sergio Aguero

Man Utd is also said to be interested in Ings.

Last season, he netted 14 goals for Southampton, and coach

Ralph Hasenhuttl

has stated that he expects him to continue playing for the side.

Since joining Southampton permanently in 2019 for a £20 million price from Liverpool, Ings has scored 34 goals in 67

Premier League

"I think Danny, especially, will stay with us,"

the coach told Sky Sports in April

"He knows with all his injuries he has had he has a very good spot to perform and come back, and I think this is important for a player.

"It's a risk to go into a final year of a contract with the risk of getting another injury, then things can be gone. It's something every player has to answer for themselves, and we hope he'll be with us for longer."

So far this summertime, Saints have converted

Theo Walcott

's loan transfer to permanent and recruited Romain Perraud to replace Ryan Bertrand at left-back position.
