A big Bundesliga clash is coming up as Bayern Munich is going to host Dortmund tonight at Allianz Arena in the 11th round of the 2019-20 campaign. Here is all you need to know about the match preview:

The teams’ news

What is up with Bayern Munich?

At the beginning of our match preview, we have to talk about Bayern Munich’s previous situation. It has to be said that the match will be a much different one for the Bavarians since this is their second match without their former head coach, Niko Kovac. In the previous one, they went against Olympiacos where they defeated their rivals 2-0 In the UEFA Champions League Matchday 4, but their match tonight will be tougher. However, this is Bayern we are talking about. A team to shine and make no mistakes.

It was the last week’s disastrous match against Eintracht Frankfurt where they lost the match 5-1 and so Niko Kovac lost his job as well. Now it’s interim manager Hans-Dieter Flick to coach the team till the club finds a new coach to the end of the season.

Overall, it has to be said that the match will be so exciting to watch since Dortmund is a hard team to go against since it has pace on the wings and plays a physical style.

Dortmund in details

On the other side of the pitch, there are the BVBs. The team have recently won their match against inter 3-2 and before that 3-0 against Wolfsburg. It has to be said that the team’s defense is so strong that they have conceded just 11 times in 10 games. Going on the road the team will go against Bayern Munich tonight, which won't be easy, but like usual they will do their best to be the winner of the match.

It has to be mentioned that currently, Dortmund is sitting third in Bundesliga with 19 points while Bayern is fifth with one point less.

Bayern Munich absentees

Bayern Munich will go on the pitch tonight without some key players. One will be definitely Niklas Sule. The defender suffered a serious knee injury that has ruled him out for the season and so the center back will not kick the ball tonight.

Another absentee for the team will be Jann-Fiete Arp who is also out due to a broken wrist. This is while Lucas Hernandez is also not expected to recover from an ankle injury until next month.

Jerome Boateng is the team’s last absentee due to his suspension.

Dortmund absentees

On the contrary, Favre will also miss some players. The first star who might miss the match tonight is Sancho as he is not fit yet after he picked up a hamstring strain during the week.

Moreover, Marcel Schmelzer will also miss the match since he has not recovered from a hip problem in time for this game. Goalkeeper Marwin Hitz will be the team’s last absentee, who suffered from a back injury during the 3-2 victory over Inter Milan on Tuesday.

Teams’ background

Looking back through the history books, these are the fact worth mentioning about:

It has to be said that Bayern have won each of their previous five Bundesliga home games against Borussia Dortmund with a goal record of 22-3, scoring at least four goals in each of the last four BL meetings in Munich.

Bayern have only suffered more Bundesliga defeats against Werder with 26 matches than they have versus Dortmund with 25.

Dortmund have lost 46 times and conceded 195 goals to Bayern in the Bundesliga. This is more than against any other team.

It is good to know that Bayern’s 5-1 loss at Frankfurt last time out was their biggest Bundesliga defeat for ten years. They were also beaten 5-1 away by eventual champions Wolfsburg in April 2009.

Bayern have only taken four points from their previous four Bundesliga games, with one win, one draw and two losses. 18 points from their opening ten games represents their worst season since 2010/11.

Bayern have already conceded 16 goals in the Bundesliga this season. They last let in as many after ten games in 2008/09 with also 16 goals.

Dortmund have won two of their last three Bundesliga games with one draw, after only picking up one win in their previous five as they drew three and lost one.

Dortmund haven’t conceded in any of their last three Bundesliga outings. They last registered as many consecutive clean sheets in August/September 2017.

Star facts

About the teams’ stars, it has to be said that Bayern’s Thomas Müller made his 500th appearance for FCB in Frankfurt, however, he failed to score for the 19th consecutive Bundesliga game which was the longest goalless streak in his career.

Dortmund’s Thorgan Hazard has been directly involved in five of his side’s last seven Bundesliga goals, scoring one goal and providing four assists. It is interesting to know that he has registered the most assists in the BL this season as he has provided six already.
