Wed 30 June 2021 | 15:30

Is it coming home? What did England fans do that outraged everyone on social media? Who got into a heated exchange with whom in the France national team? Follow us below as we take a look at everything that happened off the pitch in Euro 2020 day 19.

Euro 2020 keeps on giving even 19 days after its start and has gotten even better than the group stages. The Round of 16 came to an end with England beating their historical rivals Germany at home in Wembley and Ukraine pulling a miracle with a very late goal in the 120+1st minute to clutch a victory against

But while Raheem Sterling and

Harry Kane

helped the Three Lions go through to the quarterfinals, there was much going on off the pitch before and after the games. There was also unseen footage revealing something sinister from France’s defeat against Switzerland two days ago. So read on as we provide you with everything you need to know about the things that happened on day 19 of Euro 2020.

Euro 2020 – Day 19 Review

From England fans booing the German national anthem, to Rio Ferdinand and his co-pundits wildly celebrating Raheem Sterling’s goal against Germany and the parents of France internationals getting into a quarrel, there is much to cover from the things that have happened so far. Here is everything you should know.

The rude hosts

Prince William and his Royal family must have been ashamed to see how disrespectful some England fans were as the stadium jeered and booed during Germany’s national anthem. Such a disregard for Germany’s national anthem caused many to slam English fans for their rude behavior, who could be heard booing their opponents before rising to sing “God Save the Queen”.

English journalist Dan Walker was amongst those who slammed

fans in a Tweet for their action by commenting: “Enjoyed this one so far… apart from the pathetic booing of the anthem.”

The pundits’ joy

We all knew how intense and thrilling the England versus Germany clash was going to be for the fans of the both sides as the history alone was enough to make it a tense match. That’s why when Raheem Sterling finally took a step to become his nation’s hero once again and score the opener in the 75th minute, pundits Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer and Rio Ferdinand burst into joy as they wildly celebrated England’s first goal in the BBC studio.

The trio were seen jumping up and down as they cheered the Three Lions from the stadium. Rio Ferdinand even joked that he pulled his Achilles’ after celebrating Sterling’s goal.

A true soccer mom

It seems that the French have already started pointing fingers. But it’s not the players that have been involved in such accusations, but their parents apparently. Several reports claim that Adrien Rabiot’s mum told PSG star

Kylian Mbappe

’s parents that he is too arrogant and that they should work to make him less so.

She also got into a heated bust-up with Paul Pogba’s family as she lambasted the

Manchester United

star for losing the ball, which led to Switzerland’s equalizer against France. French news outlet RMC Sport claimed that Veronique Rabiot got into a heated exchange with Mbappe’s parents as families of other France internationals watched in shock.

The disgusting habits

Joachim Low finally said goodbye to the German national team after they bowed out of Euro 2020 with a 2-0 defeat against England. But while there is no denying the legacy that the 61-year-old has left for Die Mannschaft, there is also another matter that the former Freiburg midfielder will be remembered for. We all know it, there is no use in trying to forget it. The German manager is known for his nasty business on the sidelines, sniffing his hand after scratching his crotch, picking his nose and the famous disgusting Ronaldo handshake.

That is why we all expected to see him end his career as Germany’s head coach with yet another not-so-classy act, and that’s exactly what we got. In Germany’s 2-0 defeat against England, Low was seen picking his nose and later appearing to lick his finger while thinking of a way to save his national team. Of course it wouldn’t be a proper farewell if he didn’t also take a dig at

Cristiano Ronaldo

as he drank a bottle of Coke during his post-match interview.

With the 2014 World Cup champions out of the way, will England manage to reach the final and finally bring the trophy home? Gareth Southgate surely did get his redemption as he cleared all his faults from the Euro 96 semifinal against Germany with a win against the same rivals in Euro 2020. We will have to wait and see who finally gets to win this tournament as not even those in the so-called Group of Death could survive the intensity of the competition.
