Perez gives the green light on Gareth Bale's return to Real Madrid

Florentino Perez, the president of Real Madrid, looks to have paved the way for Gareth Bale to come back to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Bale spent the last season as a loanee at Tottenham after falling out with Real Madrid fans and

Zinedine Zidane

However, the return of

Carlo Ancelotti

has given the Welshman renewed optimism, and Los Blancos president Perez has also extended a hand to Bale amid his excellent run for Wales at

Euro 2020.

“He is a great player. I remember the finals that he has won,” Perez told

Onda Cero

. “My view is that he is one of the best players that there is in Europe. Each one is as he is, has a personality.”

One of the critiques that surfaced at Real Madrid in relation to the Bale situation is that the Welshman is undervalued for the trophies he has earned with – and for – the club.

Perez, on the other hand, has made it plain that Perez values such contributions, adding:

“The last that I remember is in Kiev, the scissor kick to score the goal and then he scored another.

“And Lisbon comes to mind. That run against Barcelona in Valencia in the Copa del Rey.

“Would I like him to stay? I love them all.”

The 31-year-old winger is currently under contract with Real Madrid until 2022; therefore, Los Blancos must make a choice on the Welshman this summer since he will be free to depart next summer.

Meanwhile, the player himself has stated that he would evaluate his fate after returning from the Euro 2020 tournament with Wales.

Bale and Wales take face

in the Round of 16 this evening, having advanced from second place in their group, following Italy.
