The Spain international talked about the hardship he had making his way back to the Spain squad after he tested positive for Covid-19.

Sergio Busquets

could not feature for

Spain

in their first two Euro 2020 clashes as he tested positive for Covid-19 before the tournament started.

The Barcelona midfielder was sent back to self-isolate for 10 days before he was allowed to return if the test was negative.

The 32-year-old came back this week and was in the starting XI for the battle against

Slovakia

as Spain sealed a place in the next round with a thumping 5-0 victory.

Because of his performance when coming to the starting line-up to replace Rodri, Busquets was named man of the match. After the clash, he shared what he experienced when he was trying to make his way back to the squad.

I am emotional,”

he told Telecinco.

“It has been quite bad, I spent 10 days in my house without knowing if I could return.”

“The group is very strong. All that has happened has made us grow.”

Spain will lock horns with Croatia in the next round of the tournament on Monday. They will have to continue the rest of the competition abroad. Luis Enrique’s squad will go to Russia should they win in Denmark. The semi-finals and final of Euro 2020 will take place at Wembley Stadium in London.
