Memphis Depay talks about his two-year contract at Barcelona

are pleased with the duration of the contract he penned at Camp Nou.

Following speculations mounting on the 27-year-old’s future with Barca, his move was confirmed on Saturday.

The Blaugrana were interested in signing with the Netherlands star last summer as well as in January, but Depay decided to see out his contract at Lyon and leave on a free transfer.

However, his two-year contract has been surprising to many, but the attacker stated that both parties are okay with the contract.

We did that with the lawyers and with Barca, we were both happy with that,"

he told

when asked about the duration of his contract.

Depay believes his move to the Spanish giants is a reward for the perseverance he has shown after suffering some difficult times in his career.

"

Of course it is a dream to play for such a big club. My career has had some ups and downs, I've had good and less good moments,"

he said.

"I've tried to fight back and that it's now being paid off shows to me that you have to keep fighting and keep believing in yourself. I am proud of that and it's something I will focus on after my holiday."

He is going to reunite with Netherlands’ ex-coach Ronald Koeman at Camp Nou. The duo worked together for two years when Koeman was managing the national team before joining Barca last Summer.

Georginio Wijnaldum was also going to make a move to Barcelona, but he chose to pen a contract with Paris Saint-Germain.

Depay is contributing to Netherlands’ cause in Euro 2020 as he met the target in both their wins against Austria and North Macedonia.
