Chiesa: Italy are right to dream of Euro 2020 glory

Federico Chiesa is satisfied with the Azzurri’s third victory against Wales and believes Italy ‘are right to dream’ of Euro 2020 triumph.

The

Italy

international was called the Man of the Match by UEAF, despite Matteo Pessina meeting the target during their 1-0 win at the Stadio Olimpico.

It was emotional, we proved today that every player chosen by the coach will put in the performance. That’s the most important thing,”

Federico Chiesa

told

RAI Sport

.

“As soon as the coach throws me into the mix, I do my all. It is an honour and a dream for me to wear the Azzurri jersey at the Euros.”

It was Italy’s third win after victories against Turkey and Switzerland.

“I thought it’d be hotter, to be honest. It wasn’t exactly fresh, but maybe the fact we were playing well and involved allowed us to forget the heat.”

Marco Verratti had his debut at Euro 2020 after returning from a knee injury.

“Marco has been playing at the highest levels with PSG for years and he showed his class once again today.”

When quizzed how far Italy are able to go at the Euros, he added:

“I don’t want to say anything, but we are right to dream.”
