Robin Gosens reveals he did not ask for Cristiano Ronaldo’s shirt after Germany came from behind to beat Portugal 4-2 on Sunday evening, having been snubbed for the Portuguese superstar’s jersey before.
wingback was praised after the 4-2 victory, having scored, provided two assists, helped create another goal and seen an early volley disallowed.
Gosens was named man of the match for his performance but the Atalanta defender opted not to ask
for his shirt after the game following his snub in 2019.
“I don’t know where to start!”
Gosens told Sky Sport Italia
“It is certainly an unforgettable night for me. We beat a truly strong team and I got my first goal in this tournament, as well as an assist. I am happy and proud.
“We knew that we’d have to win today, because if we lost here then it’d become really difficult to qualify. We tried to give everything both in attack and defense. I’m happy we won the match.”
Gosens revealed that he had asked for Ronaldo’s shirt following the Coppa Italia quarter-final two years ago but the Juventus forward
“didn’t even look at me.”
“I didn’t ask him for his shirt, as I want to enjoy the victory and this evening,”
replied the German
