Tottenham decide to rescind the offer to Gattuso

Fri 18 June 2021 | 12:09

Gennaro Gattuso is not going to get the job at Tottenham as the Spurs have decided to rescind the offer.

Gennaro Gattuso

had to leave

Fiorentina

only 23 days after he was appointed as the head coach at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

Due to disagreements between his agent

Jorge Mendes

and the Tuscans over the club’s transfer strategies, the 2006 Italy World Cup winner had to leave the club before he got any chances to begin the job.

Tottenham

then offered Gattuso a two-year deal, however, according to The Athletic, the club have decided to rescind the offer and it is no longer on the table.

Paulo Fonseca, another Serie A coach, was supposed to get the job and the Spurs were close to appointing him but due to the tax issues, they were unable to strike a deal.

New Tottenham managing director

Fabio Paratici

is still looking for a new coach in North London.

The former Juventus director, who was officially appointed by Tottenham last week, had considered the former Napoli coach as Andrea Pirlo’s replacement at Juventus.

It seems he is on good terms with Gattuso’s agent whose clients Joao Cancelo and Cristiano Ronaldo joined Juventus during his tenure.
