Sun 13 June 2021 | 12:04

The Colombia international’s future has been left in an undecided state at Everton by Carlo Ancelotti.

Many believe that

James Rodriguez

would not have made a move to

Everton

from

Real Madrid

if it wasn’t for his former coach

Carlo Ancelotti

. However, the 29-year-old will not be aiming for a return to Los Blancos.

“We’re watching,”

James said, according to

Diario AS

“If I stay another year there, at Everton, that’s fine.”

He joined the Toffees last summer, as Madrid were eager to free up financial space by eliminating some wages.

The plan was for him to help Everton return to the elite of the elite with Ancelotti’s guidance, eyeing league titles once again after the 1980s.

The midfielder met the back of the net six times and contributed five assists in the 23 games he appeared in as Everton finished the season sitting tenth on the table, with Ancelotti departing the club to join Madrid.

The Colombian has shown off impressive performances in moments but lacked consistency the whole season, which has also influenced his international ability. He will not be part of the squad that will compete in Copa America this summer, notwithstanding being fully fit.
