Sun 13 June 2021 | 10:16

The PSG midfielder has featured in Italy’s friendly against the Pescara Primavera team for 20 minutes yesterday and may make an appearance when they go against Switzerland as well.

Marco Verratti

did not play in the Euro 2020’s opener as he was struggling with a knee injury which he sustained in one of the final battles of the 2020-21 season with Paris Saint-Germain.

Roberto Mancini

called him up to be part of the Italy squad for the Euro 2020, being aware that the 28-year-old would have not played in their first battle in the group stage.

However, Verratti climbed off the bench for 20 minutes in their friendly match with the Pescara Primavera team on Sunday.

As per reports from

La Gazzetta dello Sport newspaper

, the Italy international may be part of the squad that will face Switzerland in their second match on Wednesday, but he will most probably not be in the starting XI.

Manuel Locatelli will start in midfield with Jorginho and Nicolo Barella when they take on the Swiss, whereas Alessandro Florenzi will not feature because of his calf injury. Giovanni Di Lorenzo is going to be his replacement.
