Leon Goretzka set to miss Euro 2020 opener against France

Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka has returned to team training for Germany, making it the first session where manager Joachim Low had all 26 players available.

, has been attacking his rehab extremely hard in hopes of being eligible to play against France during Germany’s opening match for the upcoming European Championship.

However, Goretzka will not be able to feature against France, but the 26-year-old will be available for their clash with defending champions Portugal.

Oliver Bierhoff

has provided an injury update on Leon Goretzka ahead of Tuesday's Euro 2020 opener against France.

"He is able to train with the team, but he won't be an option for the first game,"

said Bierhoff about the Bayern midfielder

.

"Leon is an incredibly important player and I'm sure that he will end up playing an integral role for us."

The central midfielder has made 31 appearances for Germany, scoring 13 times.
