Roma close to sign Xhaka from Arsenal

Thu 10 June 2021 | 15:12

Xhaka is very close to moving to Serie A and playing for the Special One.

Roma has begun advanced negotiations with

Arsenal

for the transfer of Granit Xhaka.

It has been suggested that Mourinho's bid for the transfer would be close to Arsenal's € 25 million, but no agreement has yet been reached on the payment.

Personal agreements between the club of Roma and the captain of the Switzerland national team are not expected to cause any problems. Jose Mourinho, the new Roma coach who replaced Paulo Fonseca in May, has asked the club to buy Xhaka. The former Tottenham boss is a fan of Xhaka and spoke about him two years ago. He said:

"Xhaka is the most important man in the entire Arsenal midfield. He's a true leader."

Xhaka joined Arsenal from Borussia Monchengladbach in 2016 and the Gunners have paid £30 million to sign him. He played 31 games in the Premier League last season and scored 1 goal. In his 5 years at Arsenal, he played a total of 160 league games.
