Fonte: ‘Ronaldo’s still going and he’s still a beast’

Jose Fonte believes Ronaldo is “still a beast” despite advancing into his mid-thirties.

For over a decade,

Cristiano Ronaldo

has been widely regarded as one of the best players in the world. However, he faced some criticism last season after he failed to inspire Juventus beyond the last 16 in the Champions League. He was also unable to prevent his Italian club from slumping to a fourth-place finish in Serie A.

Some have suggested that his powers are finally starting to wane, however,

believes Ronaldo is “still a beast” despite recently turning 36 and will still be one of the most influential players at

Euro 2020

“He’s our leader, our captain. As usual, he’s preparing in the best way. He’s one of the best professionals around. The numbers speak for themselves. He’s still going, he’s still a beast, so expect nothing else but greatness,”

Ronaldo, was the talisman in Juventus’ ranks one again as he made 44 appearances across all competitions through which he was able to score 36 goals including 29 in Serie A, land the competition’s top scorer award, and add a first Coppa Italia and second Suppercoppa Italiana to his illustrious CV.

Portugal are going to defend the title they won in 2016 despite being in a tough group alongside France, Germany, and Hungary and Ronaldo is expected to add to his 103 International goals.

It is possible that Portugal are going to face England in the round of 16 Fonte is already relishing the prospect of a potential showdown against the Three Lions, saying:

“It would be great. On a personal level, I’d love to play against England. I have fond memories from my time playing in the Premier League so what a great challenge it would be as England has a great squad as well.”
