Brendan Rodgers interested in signing Ryan Bertrand

Leicester City is negotiating with Ryan Bertrand following his departure from Southampton.

Leicester City

has been looking to sign a new left-back in the transfer window, and after

Ryan Bertrand

departed from

Southampton

, they have entered the talks to convince the player who has been one of Brendan Rodgers’ favorite players, and Rodgers knows him from his time at Chelsea.

But the player turns 32 next season, and Leicester seems to be interested in signing a younger player, and they have been monitoring other options.

Another player that Rodgers has an interest in is Atalanta’s 26-year-old full-back Robin Gosens, who seems like a better option for the club considering his performance this season.

They are also monitoring Sporting’s young talent Nuno Mendes, who will soon be 19, reports are suggesting that the club and Brendan Rodgers are more interested in signing the latter two options considering their performance and their age.

With the departure of Christian Fuchs, who is an experienced player, and having a talented teenager like Luke Thomas signing an experienced player like Bertrand without paying a transfer fee will be a good option that the club will explore as we get closer to the next season, but there are other clubs interested in signing the former England international too.

With the high-quality performances of Thomas through the last season, they might be willing to add only an experienced player to help him as Rodgers thinks that Thomas is not ready to appear in all Leicester’s games in the Premier League, and signing Bertrand will save them from paying a big fee for another big player.
