Eric ten Hag back in Tottenham radar after Antonio Conte bid collapse

Sun 06 June 2021 | 18:12

Tottenham are ready to open talks with Ajax manager Erik ten Hag after their move for the former Inter boss, Antonio Conte, collapsed on Friday.

Spurs have been without a boss for almost two months following the

sacking of Jose Mourinho

in April.

Ryan Mason

was chosen as interim manager until the end of the season, but chairman

Daniel Levy

is expected to make a higher-profile head coach for next season.

The London club have also failed in their negotiations with

Brendan Rodgers

,

Mauricio Pochettino

, and

Antonio Conte

.

After it became clear that Tottenham’s bid to land former

Inter Milan

and

Chelsea

manager Conte was not viable from either side, though,

Ten Hag

has returned to the frame, according to the

Daily Mirror

.

Although the 51-year-old recently signed a contract extension with Ajax, that does not mean he is necessarily ruled out of the club’s options to replace Jose Mourinho.

Ten Hag will be no stranger to Spurs fans as his Ajax side played an epic Champions League semi-final battle in 2019, with Lucas Moura scoring a late hat-trick to put the club through to the final at the expense of the Dutch giants.

Ten Hag has been in charge of Ajax since 2017 and has won two Eredivisie titles during his time at the helm of the country’s biggest club.
